H2S Detector calibration procedure
H2S is one of the hazardous gas create a problem for personal health and the environment. It is continuously monitored for any exposure. The H2S detector has to be in perfect working condition to detect the gas particles and intimate the workers. So it is important to periodically calibrate the instrument to check the functionality of the equipment. In this way, any defect or error in the instrument is identified and rectified.
The calibration of the H2S detector required a known concentration of zero and span gas. By which the gas is injected into the instrument to verify the measurement and trim the instrument in case of deviation.
Now enter the configuration menu in the instrument. You can find several options in the startup menu. Select the calibration menu, you will find two options.
Always perform zero calibration, after that proceed to span calibration.
Zero calibration
If the atmosphere is free from H2S gas then the calibration can be performed without using the zero gas. Some manufacturer provides a cap to isolate the sensing port exposing to the atmosphere. But if the environment is frequently exposed by the H2S gas then it is recommended to use the zero gas to avoid deviation in the reading.
- By any one of the method start the “ZERO CALIBRATION” by selecting the option in the calibration menu. Now the calibration will get started automatically.
- Wait until the reading gets stabilized, once the calibration is completed it will get displayed in the detector.
- Press ENTER key to proceed to the “SPAN CALIBRATION”
Span calibration
- Now connect the span gas cylinder to the detector and open the cylinder isolation valve to allow gas to impact the sensing point.
- Select the “SPAN CALIBRATION” in the instrument menu and ENTER the value of span gas used in the detector correctly.
- Now the sensor will sense the incoming gas and the value keeps on increasing until stabilized. Once it gets completed the message will be displayed.
Now the calibration is completed, remove all the connection. Now the detector is ready to use.
