Solenoid

2/2 Solenoid normally close

The 2/2 solenoid normally close valve is a type of directional valve, the port direction change is achieved using energising the solenoid coil. Which pushes the plunger against the spring to open or close the port. Once the coil is de-energised by the spring return it will be back to its normal position.

The above diagram simply describes the features of the direction valve. The two square portions are a representation of several positions the valve is capable of operating. The number of ports is counted in any one square portion, don’t count both squares. In this type 2 ports and 2 positions are available.

And the spring attached portion always represents the normal condition (de-energised), here it is in a normally closed state as you see the port is closed, stopping the movement of the medium from one side to another side of the port. The solenoid attached box represents the energised condition, shown by the means of an arrow from the input to the output port. Hence combining all its features it was named so.
